Dr Peter M George
Dr Peter George is an MRC Clinical Research Training Fellow at the National Heart & Lung Institute, Imperial College.
Peter qualified from Imperial College School of Medicine in 2005 with honours in his Final MB. He intercalated with a BSc in Pharmacology and Toxicology (2003) and his research project was awarded first class honours. He went on to undertake his pre-registration house officer year at St Mary’s Hospital and was later appointed to a Core Medical Training rotation in 2007 working at the Royal Brompton, the Royal Marsden and Northwick Park Hospitals.
In 2008 he gained his MRCP(UK) and in 2009 was appointed to the post of Academic Clinical Fellow in Respiratory Medicine at Imperial College. He spent his first two years as a Respiratory SpR at St Mary's Hospital and the Hammersmith Hospital.
Peter was then awarded an MRC Clinical Research Training Fellowship and is currently undertaking a PhD investigating the relationship between the innate immune system, infection and the pulmonary vasculature. More specifically, he is currently researching the role of toll like receptors, viruses and interferons in the development of Pulmonary Hypertension under the supervision of Professor Jane Mitchell and Professor Sebastian Johnston.
