Dr Petr Vikhorev
My research interests focus on the mechanisms and regulation of muscle contraction. I jointed the Laboratory of Muscle Biophysics in 2009. My current research project is to build and set up instrumentation, computer controlled with LabVIEW software, for investigation of the myofibril contractile dynamics, and applied this technique to the study of myopathic heart muscle and transgenic mouse models.
Career Outline
1997 BSc in Biology, St. Petersburg State University. 1999 MSc in Biology (Biophysics), St. Petersburg State University. 1999-2001 (7 months) Visiting researcher, Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology of the Polish Academy of Sciences. 2003 PhD in Histology, Cytology and Cellular Biology, Institute of Cytology of the Russian Academy of Sciences. 2004-2005 Post-doctoral researcher, University of York. 2006-2009 Post-doctoral researcher, University of Kalmar, Sweden. 2009-present, Research associate, London Imperial College.
