Dr Robin Fortt
After studying Chemistry at Nottingham Trent University, Robin Fortt carried out his graduate research in the application of microfluidics to small molecule organic chemistry with Andrew de Mello at the SmithKline Beecham Centre for Analytical Sciences, Imperial College London, receiving his PhD in 2004. He then joined the Bio and Chemical Instrumentation Group within Central Research Laboratories (CRL) before transferring to the CRL spin out company, RoBio Systems.
In 2006 he moved to Hammersmith Imanet, part of GE Healthcare, and began his work in the area of Positron Emission Tomography (PET). There, he was able to combine his chemistry, technology and computing experience with nuclear medicine to develop skills in the area of radiochemistry automation, chemistry development and validation of radiopharmaceuticals for clinical use.
He recently accepted a postdoctoral research associate position with Professor Eric Aboagye within the Comprehensive Cancer Imaging Centre, Imperial College London. His primary focus is on the development of innovative automation and synthetic strategies for the production of novel PET radiopharmaceuticals.
