Dr Ramzi Khamis
Dr. Ramzi Khamis MB ChB MRCP(UK) is a Specialist Registrar in Cardiology and Wellcome Trust/ GSK Clinical Research Fellow in Translational Medicine.
Dr. Khamis graduated from Bristol in 2000, and undertook his House Officer training at Bristol and Bath followed by Emergency Medicine training in Leeds, and then by General Internal Medicine training as part of the Barts and the London Medical SHO training scheme in London. Dr. Khamis also taught physiology at Bristol University as a tutor in 2002.
Dr. Khamis was awarded and completed a highly competitive Academic Clinical Fellowship in Cardiology, funded by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) at the National Heart and Lung Institute, as well as a Fellowship in Interventional Cardiology at the Hammersmith Hospital London.
He is currently a Specialist Registrar on the North West London Cardiology rotation, and undertakes his research under the direction of Profs Haskard and Matthews at the National Heart and Lung Institute., and the GSK Clinical Imaging Centre, part of the Hammersmith Hospital Campus.
His research interests include the development of an antibody-targeted PET imaging strategy for the detection of oxidised low density lipoprotein in atherosclerosis. He also has an ongoing interest in gender differences in Interventional cardiology, as well as clinical interest in novel interventional cardiology techniques.
Dr. Khamis enjoys clinical teaching, and regularly partakes in teaching for the MRCP PACES examination, as well as tutoring undergraduates for final year examinations.
