Dr Thibaut Jombart
I am a research associate working with François Balloux since January 2009. My background is in biostatistics, with an emphasis on multivariate methods and spatial statistics. My PhD was about using, adapting and developping multivariate analyses for genetic markers data. I have also devoted some attention toward modelling multi-scale spatial variation and phylogenetic comparative methods.
I am currently involved in different projects which revolve around the study of the genetic makeup of human and pathogen populations. These projects range from the study of global human genetic variation to the investigation of the spread of emerging pathogens and to the sutdy of genetic diversity in plague outbreaks. I am also developping a R package dedicated to large-scale (world-wide) modelling of spatial data.
Lastly, I am involved in the development of several packages:
- adegenet (author): multivariate analysis for genetic markers
- adephylo (author): exploratory analyses of phylogenetic comparative data
- geoGraph (author): large-scale modelling of spatial data [under development]
- ade4 (contributor): multivariate methods, graphics, spatial statistics
- sedaR (contributor): spatial statistics for ecological data [under development]
- phylobase (contributor): handling and analyses of phylogenetic comparative data
