Background:

1999-2004: Studies of Biology at the University of Goettingen, Germany. Worked on metabolic profiling of plant metabolites for the ‘Diplom’ (MSc eqivalent) thesis.

2004-2005: Research Associate at the group of Prof. I. Feussner at the University of Goettingen.

2005-2006: MRes in Biomedical Research at Imperial College, London.

2006-2009: PhD at Imperial College London, Title: Metabolic profiling of cystic fibrosis pathogens.

2009-present: PostDoc at Imperial College London in project: 'Mapping Combinatorial Stress Responses in Bacteria Using Chimeric Proteins and Probabilistic Modelling', funded by the BBSRC.

Research project:

Measuring metabolic changes in E. coli as a result of single and combinatorial stresses.

PIs:

Dr. Jake Bundy (metabolomics work)

Prof. Martin Buck and Prof. Michael Stumpf (heading BBSRC project)

Aim of current project:

The aim of the study is to develop and apply metabolic profiling approaches to provide data for the modeling of bacterial stress responses. The goal is to connect data of different 'omics' techniques to obtain a systems level understanding of E. coli, one of biology's main model organisms.
