DDC collaboration project publishes in Nature Medicine (July 2011)
DDC collaborators Prof Justin Stebbing & Dr Georgios Giamas have identified a novel protein (LMTK3) involved in the development of drug resistance in ER positive breast cancer. These new and important findings have recently been published in Nature Medicine and form the basis of one of the on-going drug discovery programmes within the DDC portfolio.

Spring DDC and CD3 Imperial College symposium on Academic Drug Discovery (July 2011)
The Imperial College symposium and networking event entitled “Academic Drug Discovery: Challenges and Perspectives” was well attended and successfully received on 31st March 2011. The agenda for the day together with selected presentations can be found on the symposium website.
DDC and CD3 to lead an Imperial College symposium on Academic Drug Discovery (March 2011)
An Imperial College symposium and networking event entitled “Academic Drug Discovery: Challenges and Perspectives” will be held on 31st March 2011. The day will consist of several short talks from Imperial-based projects, supported by the Drug Discovery Centre and the Cancer Drug Design and Development Group, as well as plenary talks from Paul Workman and Dr Chas Bountra. Registration for this event has now closed.
DDC publish in inaugural edition of Public Service Review: UK science & technology
The Drug Discovery Centre have been invited to contribute to the inaugural UK science & technology edition of the Public Service Review (PSR) publication. The PSR series of journals and website (http://www.publicservice.co.uk/ ) are designed to inform and update public service workers on areas relevant to them. It’s audience includes decision makers within the UK and European funding bodies, therefore is an excellent platform for Imperials Drug Discovery Centre to promote itself, Imperial College, and academic drug discovery as the new paradigm for priming the early drug discovery pipeline. DDC seeking potential collaborations in early drug discovery: Inflammation and Autoimmune areas (July 2010)
The DDC are in discussion with funding agencies to develop an Imperial-specific scheme to support early drug discovery projects in the area of "Inflammatory and auto-immune mechanisms of disease". The aim is to support projects through the target validation to lead optimisation stages, priming novel therapeutic approaches for more significant funding later.
If you have a project that you think fits loosely within the scope of interest (e.g. vascular/cellular responses to harmful stimuli; overactive responses to normal body components; signalling pathways.....) please link to our proposed new scheme page where you'll find more information and a contact form survey.

Drug Discovery Centre Recruiting (January 2010)

Drug Discovery Centre updates website (January 2010)
Following on from a recommendation from the panel review, the Drug Discovery Centre is re-vamping its website to improve communications and visibility both within and outside of college, with the aim of promoting collaborations. We apologies for the on-going changes over the next few weeks as we seek to make the website more accessible - please let us know if there is anything in particular you would like to see/cannot find and we'll seek to add it to the new site.
