An Appetite for Science?’ Outreach Day.
Outreach activities
The Section of Investigative Medicine investigates how the gut and brain control appetite and bodyweight. The department is offering an educational and practical day to illustrate the physiology of appetite control and to gain an insight into our experiments using human volunteers. The day is also designed to give Year 12 students a taste of what it is like to study science at university. There will be lecture-style presentations, activities, debates and a laboratory practical. This event is open to all Year 12 students who are interested in learning more about research in biological sciences and physiology.
The day has now been running for four years and we have consistently received excellent feedback: last year 100% of students reported finding the day educational, 90% said the day had made them more likely to apply to university and over 95% said they would recommend the day to a friend.
The date of the event will be Tuesday 9th of August 2011.
