Gene Transcription

The focus of our research is to examine changes in gene expression in breast cancer. This involves looking both at changes in the abundance and activity of specific transcription factors and also, more globally, at overall patterns of gene expression.

 

The results of our earlier work, showing tumour-specific activity of the ERBB2 promoter, have been used to direct expression of cytotoxic agents in a plasmid-based Gene Therapy strategy that has been through a Phase I clinical trial.
