Ovarian Cancer

About 6000 women are diagnosed with the disease each year in the UK, approximately 75% of the women diagnosed with ovarian cancer will die of the disease.  The success of cancer gene therapy depends critically upon two steps, namely the targeting of transgene expression to tumour cells followed by the efficient killing of those cells.  Therefore, the ovarian cancer group at the Molecular Oncology Unit is investigating both transcriptional targeting and the induction of apoptosis in ovarian cancer.
