Major International Projects
The department hosts four major international public-health projects with a developing world focus.
All are collaborations with international agencies working in the development and/or public health arenas. The projects are listed below:
- The Partnership for Child Development (PCD)
The Partnership for Child Development, formed in 1992, is an organisation committed to improving the education, health and nutrition of school-age children and youth in low income countries. - The Schistosomiasis Control Initiative (SCI)
The Schistosomiasis Control Initiative aims to encourage treatment of schistosomiasis in sub-Saharan Africa by targeting those at high risk of developing severe morbidity, especially school-aged children, women and those in high risk occupations. - The UNAIDS Reference Group
Provides advice to UNAIDS, the World Health Organisation and other international bodies as well as advising researchers and public health officials on the issues involved in estimation of the present and future prevalence and impact of HIV/AIDS. - LGV-net
