Preventive Cardiology: Cardiovascular Health and Disease Prevention
The Preventive Cardiology programme (part-time or full-time) will allow students to:
- Interact with some of the world’s leading experts in cardiovascular health and disease prevention
- Develop an understanding of how to manage cardiovascular risk and raise the standards of care in preventive cardiology
- Acquire the appropriate qualifications to fill specialist posts in services related to the prevention and management of cardiovascular disease

How to apply
Students will gain knowledge of, and experience in, the theory and clinical application of evidence-based preventive cardiology practice. The programme covers the complete spectrum of preventive cardiology, from patients with established atherosclerotic disease and the relatives of patients with premature atherosclerotic disease, to asymptomatic people, including those with diabetes, who are at high multifactorial risk. This interdisciplinary programme is aimed at any health professional with a role in the prevention of cardiovascular disease, for example doctors, nurses, dieticians, physiotherapists, physical activity specialists, pharmacists, psychologists, occupational therapists, sports scientists, health promotion and public health specialists.
Blended learning format
The Postgraduate Certificate, Postgraduate Diploma and MSc programmes include both a taught and practical component, supported by our on-line interactive virtual learning environment (VLE).

Taught and clinical practice
These components are mainly based at St Mary's Hospital but students may also spend time at other College campuses and clinics from hospitals affiliated with Imperial College.
