Public Engagement Activities

HEFCE Medical School, 2010Professor Sara Rankin is the NHLI Institute lead for Outreach and a member of the Education and Training Committee of the British Society of Pharmacology – with a special interest in outreach activities.

She and the Regenerative Pharmacology group's public engagement activities include workshops, lectures, summer schools as well as acting as a scientific advisor and appearing in the local and national press:

The Respiratory Pharmacology research group regularly runs stem cell workshops for pupils. This is an opportunity for all members of the group to get involved in science communication it is always good fun and very rewarding.

Art projects

Wellcome Trust People's Award

Awarded to Gina Czarnecki to work with Professor Sara Rankin, June 2009; for the Sci-Art project WASTED – to be exhibited in the Blue Coat Gallery in Liverpool 2011.

First in this series was presented as part of DADA fest (the annual festival for deaf and disabled artists) on the BBC big screens across the UK as part of the cultural Olympiad December 2009 - March 2010 and at the Para Winter Olympics in Vancouver 2010
