Bayesian Gene Expression
Statistical work on gene expression analysis is supported by a BBSRC programme grant (Prof S Richardson), a Wellcome Trust collaboration and involves the Microarray Centre at Hammersmith (Prof T Aitman) and the Genetics and Genomics Institute (Prof J Scott). A close collaboration has been established with Prof P Green FRS at Bristol University to investigate modelling and computational strategies for dealing with large data sets such as arising in genomics (BGX Project). We are currently developing Bayesian models for improving signal extraction from arrays and a flexible method for proposing a list of genes for further investigation in the context of differential gene expression studies. Work includes extensive comparison with competing methods. A central theme of applications for the micro-array analyses concerns the syndrome of insulin resistance (BAIR Project).
