Molecular Cancer Medicine
Lung cancer accounts for more deaths than any other cancer in both men and women and is one of the key research interests of the Molecular Cancer Medicine Section, which is headed by Prof. Michael J. Seckl. Most cancer deaths are due to the development of drug resistant and metastatic disease. This is the reason why a great deal of our research efforts focus on elucidating the underlying mechanisms that govern these two processes. To this end, our work has identified a number of novel therapeutic targets. This, in turn, is likely to lead to the development of novel therapeutic strategies that are urgently required. Three independent research teams, led by Prof. Michael Seckl, Dr Olivier Pardo and Dr Ana Costa-Pereira, work closely together to achieve key research objectives.
