Trophoblastic Research
Charing Cross Hospital is the UK’s major screening and treatment centre for patients with gestational trophoblastic disease. These include the premalignant condition hydatidiform mole and the related gestational trophoblastic tumours. Our aims are to investigate the genetic changes underlying the development of these conditions in order to refine diagnosis, gain insight into the role of imprinted genes in early embryonic development and provide more appropriate management of patients with recurrent molar pregnancies and trophoblastic tumours.
