New research student information

Welcome to the Department of Surgery & Cancer.  This page is designed to summarise the key information that you will need at the beginning of your time with the Department.

Health and Safety Induction

This should be done on your first day and will be delivered by your local laboratory manager - please speak to your supervisor to arrange this.

ID card

You should print off the letter from your eService account confirming your enrolment and take it to your local ID card office (Details of these and their opening hours).  They will then be able to issue you with your card.

Handbook

Research Student Handbook  - this details all the key policies and procedures in the Dept.

Milestones

The Research degree milestones checklist  will help you keep track of what you need to do when.

Research plan approval

Once you've enrolled, the next step is to complete the Dept Registration Form , which confirms supervision arrangements and who will assess the research plan.  As explained in the Research plan approval process , you should then send the plan and Form 2  (once the first 2 pages have been completed) to your assessors so they can provide feedback.
