Course work and examinations

Assessed coursework includes essays, reports and oral and poster presentations. A large part of the coursework will involve the students keeping a record of ‘quality and safety in practice’. This is a reflective portfolio where the students will record and discuss quality and safety issues that arise in their practice.

The research project will be carried out in year 2 (but can be started earlier).  On completion of the research project, a written report, a dissertation of 10,000-15,000 words (excluding tables, appendices and references), will be produced and submitted for an examination followed by a viva at the end of the course.

The overall pass mark for the course is 50%. The coursework, presentations and examination contribute to 50% of the total mark for the course, with the research project and viva contributing the remaining 50%.   The weighting of marks contributing to the degree for the examinations, coursework and research project is: 25:25:50, respectively.
