Career opportunities

Many participants will be qualified well beyond the minimum requirement, and be taking this programme as an element of professional development for roles that have only started to evolve in the last decade. All participants will be associated, either as clinicians, educationalists, learning technologists or in some other capacity with an interventionist area of medicine, such as surgery (from any surgical specialty and at any level of training).

We anticipate that graduates of this programme will be well placed to advance their careers in a range of directions. Many are likely to be fairly senior in their ‘first’ profession; for this group the Masters will represent professionalisation for a role they may have taken on without full and appropriate academic training.  Participants are likely to be seeking career advancement through possession of an appropriate degree at Masters level for careers in deaneries, royal colleges, NHS trusts (or their national equivalents) and in universities, for example in academic departments of surgery.
