Days 1 & 2 - open surgery
- Moderate and difficult access bowel
- Anastomoses
- Dealing with size discrepancy
- Gastrectomy, oesophageal and rectal anastomoses
- Stapled anastomoses and stomas
Day 3 - vascular surgery
- Needle and suture-handling techniques
- Arteriotomy
- Vein patching
- Inlay parachute vascular anastomoses
Day 4 - minimal access surgery
- Principles of safe laparoscopic surgery
- Laparoscopic cholecystectomy
- Operative cholangiography
- Closure of port sites
Format
Practical skills teaching with a tutor to participant ratio of 1:4, supported by tutorials, videos and discussion sessions
