Education and Training
The National Heart and Lung Institute is committed to the development and delivery of excellent education and training at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and to the continuing professional development of its staff.
Institute staff make significant contributions to the organisation, delivery and assessment of undergraduate and graduate entry programmes in Medicine and to BScs in Biomedical Sciences, Pharmacology and Translational Medicine. This contribution has been recognised over the years with several awards to NHLI's staff.
The Institute is committed to two one-year BSc programmes in Cardiovascular and Respiratory Sciences. These programmes are open to medical and biomedical science students studying at Imperial College London. Subject to space, they are also open to medical students at any other UK medical school. Each programme offers a unique opportunity to study the science underpinning a major area of medicine and to learn from scientists and clinicians who are internationally recognised in their fields of research.
Our postgraduate portfolio contains several Master's degrees aimed primarily at members of the health care professions and medicine. We are also active contributors to the MRes programmes of the Faculty of Medicine. NHLI offers suitably qualified scientists and clinicians opportunities to study for a PhD or an MD(Res) with one of its many internationally recognised research teams in cardiovascular or respiratory sciences or molecular medicine.
