Shiranee Sriskandan and Rob Edwards, in collaboration with the HPA and Diagnostic Microbiology, have been awarded a new BRC grant worth £152,000 entitled Rapid Microbial Diagnosis by Mass Spectroscopy and Antibodies in Severe Sepsis.

The research, which will take place in work-stream 2, aims to evaluate the ability of novel antibody panels to promptly identify specified pathogens using targets identified by in vitro mass spectrometric analysis.

The grant will lead to the employment of a Research Technician to work on the project for two years
