Darren Nelson is the General Manager of the Infection Prevention and Control Service within Imperial College Healthcare Trust. Darren has a particular interest in change management and behavioral responses to new models, and also acts as Communication Lead for the IPC service. As a result he has been working with Alison Holmes in WS1 to undertake a review of Communication Strategy to date is devising a strong and sustainable model that the service can take forward for future use. Darren is also working with other CIPM staff, the Trust Communications Department and the DFI to identify research opportunities which focus specifically on social marketing.
Background
He has a nursing background and has held several Senior Nursing positions over the past 10 years, most recently Directorate Head of Nursing for Clinical and Diagnostics at St Mary’s, and since the Trust merger, he has led the development and implementation of the new model for service delivery for the AHSC.
Darren is also studying for a postgraduate degree in medical anthropology, with particular focus on the behavior of individuals in the context of situated risk. This work will also link with WS3 and the work Paul Aylin is doing into Infection Surveillance.
