Dr Maria Woloshynowych

 

Maria Woloshynowych is the Course Director of the MSc in Quality and Safety in Healthcare at the Clinical Safety Research Unit, Department of Surgery and Cancer, Imperial College London.

She trained and worked as a nurse before undertaking her Psychology BSc and PhD. She completed her PhD in the Department of Psychology at University College London (UCL).

She previously worked at the Clinical Risk Unit, UCL, where she was involved in a number of projects on clinical risk management. She was the project manager of the UK Adverse Events pilot study and worked on the Health Technology Assessments (HTA) project: a review of methods used for the investigation and analysis of critical incidents in healthcare.

She has been at Imperial College since 2003 and involved in a range of projects including: incident reporting and communication load in the Emergency Department (ED); stress and coping strategies used by surgeons; the assessment of medication error; a review of risks in care of the elderly and continues to have an interest in communication and non-technical skills within the ED.
