Rector's Awards for Excellence
The Institute’s staff undertake extra-ordinary work towards teaching and educating the next generation of medics and scientists, as well as looking after their wellbeing. There is no question that teaching excellence is one of the reasons NHLI is so successful and the Institute is delighted and proud to have so many recipients of Rector’s Awards for Excellence.
Awards for Excellence are granted annually for the following:
Rector’s Award for Excellence in Research Supervision
The Rector’s Awards for Excellence in Research Supervision recognise staff who have made exceptional contributions in providing a supportive learning environment for postgraduate research students. Each year, of the award winners up to two may be selected to receive the Rector’s Medal for Excellence in Research Supervision.

Rector’s Award for Excellence in Teaching
Awards for Excellence in Teaching are presented annually to members of academic staff judged to have been most outstanding in the quality, organisation and presentation of their teaching. Each year, of the award winners up to four may be selected to receive a Rector’s Medal for Outstanding Contribution to Teaching Excellence. One of the Medals may carry the title of Medal for Outstanding Innovation in Teaching.

Rector’s Awards for Excellence in Supporting the Student Experience
Nominations to the Rector’s Awards for Excellence in Supporting the Student Experience were sought for the first time in 2011. The Awards recognise the importance placed by the College on the contribution of support staff in underpinning the College’s learning environment for students. Of the award winners up to two may be selected to receive the Rector’s Medal for Excellence in Supporting the Student Experience.

Rector’s Award for Mentoring

Rewarding staff for their efforts in the fields of mentoring, The Rector's Award for Excellence in mentoring is a bi-annual award open to all staff from across the College from both academic departments and administration. All staff entered into the awards were nominated by their peers.
