Research Degrees

The programme of research degrees in the School of Public Health offers students the opportunity to study for PhD, MPhil or MD (Res) in any of the following departments:

Our students work across a range of areas including infectious disease epidemiology, chronic disease epidemiology, biostatistics, primary care, health services research and medical ethics.

PhDs

To ensure our PhD students work to the best of their ability we offer a rigorous research training programme to provide the student with the knowledge and expertise they need to complete their PhD to our excellent standards.

Funding

We offer UK/EU PhD studentship funding in specific research areas and welcome self-funded PhD projects.

Before making an application for a PhD it is important to make contact with a prospective supervisor to see if they will be willing to supervise you.

Candidates must have completed relevant research training in order to be considered for research. The School also offers taught postgraduate courses which offer excellent training in preparation for further research.
